Banif team brightens up St. Joseph Home

On the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, a few intrepid team members from Banif’s Banking Operations Office and their families donned their overalls and spent a day painting the play room at St. Joseph’s Home in Santa Venera.

Founded back in 1888 by the Missionaries of St. Paul, the purpose of the home is to provide accommodation and support to boys with troubled backgrounds. The boys live in three separate flats, according to their age group, with the aim of fostering a normal home environment and ultimately enabling them to go on to integrate with society. Since its opening, the home has taken over 2,300 boys under its wing.

“Our team had been talking about getting together to give something back to the community, and we finally got together,” said Mandy Scicluna, one of the Banif volunteers. “It was a fun and very rewarding way of spending our holiday, and even doubled up as a good teambuilding exercise. Better yet, our colleagues around the Bank were also able to get in on it by contributing towards the buying of paint and tools, through our monthly Casual Fridays initiative.”
