Record participation at the President's Charity Fun Run
Thousands of people of all ages thronged Malta’s main roads from Attard to Valletta in an atmosphere of fun and festivity as they walked and ran for the President’s Charity Fun Run supported for the fourth year running by Banif Bank, in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
A sea of indigo led by H.E. President George Abela and First Lady Mrs Margaret Abela made its way to St George’s Square where the event culminated. For the first time top senior officials from Banif, SA joined their Maltese counterparts and bank employees, reflecting the importance Banif gives to the Fun Run in its CSR calendar. “It’s a feeling of indescribable joy to see thousands mobilised for a good cause,” said Joaquim F. Silva Pinto, Banif Bank (Malta) plc CEO. Apart from raising funds for charity, the Fun Run promotes a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of keeping fit.
The 4th edition of the Fun Run has exceeded expectations both in participant turn out and in the interest shown by the public, and photographers had a field day capturing a gamut of emotions, as people from all walks of life came together in solidarity. The event that has now acquired national importance is organised in collaboration with the Malta Amateur Athletics Association and The Ministry of Health, the Elderly and Community Care and is also supported by More Supermarkets.
