We're seeking to recruit Experienced Officials for our Compliance Department.

Duties and responsibilities

The Regulatory Compliance function is responsible for the Bank's adherence to Regulations, Legislation, and codes of practices. The function is also responsible for providing guidance and recommendations on legislations and other regulations as issued by the Regulators. In addition, the Regulatory Compliance function is also responsible for carrying regulatory oversight on the Bank.

You will be responsible for:

  • promoting the ongoing development of the Compliance Culture within the Bank;
  • liaising and maintaining excellent working relationships with regulatory bodies;
  • conducting regulatory risk related tasks and assignments;
  • carrying our preliminary impact analysis and assisting in the implementation of specific legislation that will impact the Bank;
  • adhering to set deadlines and objectives as stipulated by the various legislations, and as mutually agreed with internal stakeholders;
  • providing guidance and assistance to internal stakeholders on regulatory matters;
  • assisting with the development and implementation of the Annual Compliance Plan;
  • ensuring compliance across the different functions of the Bank with the requirements of the relevant legislation and internal policies as documented in the above oversight programme that includes monitoring and testing;
  • setting and maintaining regular statistics and present regular updates to the recommended committees or fora;
  • contributing in the identification and monitoring of regulatory risk exposures;
  • assisting the Data Protection Officer of the Bank with any issues that may arise including investigation and reporting of data breaches, data erasure requests and data subject access requests;
  • being familiar with relevant regulations such as PSDII, GDPR, EBA guidelines & MFSA rules;
  • interacting closely with internal customers; and
  • assisting with any other duties that may be required to achieve and exceed the functions objectives as defined from time to time.

Competencies and experience

The potential candidate should be reliable and trustworthy, well-organised with a disposition to learn and have a strong team-oriented approach. 

You must: 

  • have experience in Regulatory Compliance and 5 years in banking;
  • be self-motivated with an ability to work on own initiative with tight deadlines and adopt a solution-driven approach to work;
  • have the ability to multitask;
  • be able to think outside the box;
  • be meticulous in your work;
  • be proficient in Microsoft Office application;and
  • be proficient in both Maltese and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
