BANIF Bank (Malta) plc reduces its base rate

Following the decision taken by the ECB, European Central Bank, to decrease its Reference Rate, Banif Bank (Malta) plc is announcing that it will be reducing its base rate from 3.0% to 2.50% with effect from Friday 30th January 2009.

Banif Malta has passed on the full interest rate cut to the borrowing customers, in order to support the local economy and business sector. At the same time the Bank absorbed part of the rate reduction on deposit products through the interest rate spreads, in order to safeguard customer savings and instigate more personal and business investment opportunities.
