Banif Bank making the biggest contribution towards Istrina

The success achieved during The President's Charity Fun Run translated into the biggest contribution made towards the Malta Community Chest Fund during l-Istrina 2010. The Chairman of Banif Bank (Malta) plc, Mr. Joseph Sammut presented a cheque of €151,720 to H.E. The President Dr. George Abela during the live transmission of one of the most important charity initiatives in Malta.

For the second year running, the Fun Run exceeded all expectations and attracted over 7,000 people who contributed towards this noble cause, through their donation and their participation in this large scale manifestation of solidarity. This represented an increase of around 2,000 people over the first edition of The President's Charity Fun Run.

Banif is very proud to be a champion in this innovative activity that is encouraging the local community to adopt a healthier lifestyle and at the same time helping to alleviate social problems in Malta. "From the outset, the Bank believed that the Fun Run would be a very successful initiative and would establish itself as one of the main events in the local calendar of activities. The response shown by the people so far encourages us and the rest of the organising committee to work even harder to make the Fun Run an even bigger and better activity every year," commented Mr. Sammut during the presentation of the donation towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Whilst thanking the local community for their participation and the large number of volunteers that used their free time to contribute towards the organisation of the Fun Run, the Chairman of Banif Bank announced that the Bank doubled the donations made by 7,086 participants and also made a significant financial contribution towards the organisation of the Fun Run.

"Banif Bank believes that sustainable development is not just a specific aim for the present, but a contribution towards a better future. The value of humanity encapsulates the corporate essence of the Bank and instils in us the "Power of Believing" to achieve more for the benefit of all," concluded Mr. Sammut.
