Banif Bank (Malta) plc Sponsors The Malta Football Association

Banif Bank (Malta) plc will be sponsoring the Maltese national football team for the 2010 World Cup qualifying match against Portugal which will be held on the 6th September 2008 in Ta’ Qali Football Grounds.

As a Maltese bank with local shareholding, Banif Bank is committed to support the local community in cultural, environmental and sporting events such as the football match between Malta and Portugal. The affiliations that Bank has with Portugal made it even more natural for Banif Bank to participate in such an important activity. “Banif Bank is proud to be supporting the Malta Football Association in organising this event. The match happens to coincide during the first year of Banif’s banking operations in Malta and gives us a great opportunity to emphasise our commitment towards the strengthening of the relationship between Malta & Portugal,” said the Chairman of Banif Bank (Malta) plc, Mr Joseph Sammut.

Banif Bank is certain that the Portuguese players will receive a warm welcome in Malta and will be of attraction to the Maltese supporters since some of Portugal’s top talents are key players in English and Italian teams which are highly popular in the Maltese Islands.

“We believe that this will be a spectacular match that will generate a cheerful and supportive atmosphere, which hopefully brings unison amongst the supporters. We wish all the best to the Maltese national football team and hope that Banif Bank can contribute to the success of this event,” concluded Mr. Sammut.
