Senior Manager - Products Strategy Unit

The Bank is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager to join its Products Strategy Unit.

Duties and responsibilities

 

The Senior Manager Product Strategy Unit (PSU) will actively contribute to the overall products strategy and will lead the Product Strategy Unit team to develop products and services, in close collaboration with the relevant internal stakeholders. The Senior Manager PSU will be required to prepare and analyse reports and provide recommendations on actions required. The Senior Manager PSU will develop business plans for new products, services or channels, present feasibility studies and budgets and also act as Project Lead and Manager for projects that are assigned to the Unit. 

This will include managing and maintaining the Products and Services Catalogue ensuring that it is relevant, up-to-date, comprehensive and easy to understand.  The Senior Manager PSU will monitor the performance of the Bank’s products and services through their lifecycle and analyse competitive forces shaping the financial services industry to ensure pro-active commercially viable development.

You will be responsible to:

  • chair and steer the functions of the Products Oversight Committee as per Terms of Reference, as an integral part of the Bank’s Product Oversight and Governance arrangements; 
  • maintain a products and services catalogue which shall consist of at least, but not limited to Product Specifications, Process Flow, Application forms and Sanction Letter Templates to act as a central point of reference within the Bank;
  • analyse and maintain regular cleaning of Data;
  • review and updating existing products and services throughout the whole lifecycle, while developing new products and services in line with the strategic direction and marketing strategy of the Bank;
  • oversee the development, viability, testing and implementation of new products and services in line with the Bank’s expected standards and targets;
  • act as a point of reference to queries related to products and services;
  • manage and review the Tariff of Charges ensuring that it matches the return expectation of the Bank, is fair to clients and in line with regulations and legislation, whilst maintaining competitiveness in the market;
  • provide regular reports by sourcing, verifying, analysing and presenting data, both for internal use and for official external stakeholders as may be required;
  • provide input in products related campaigns in liaison with the Marketing and Communications Unit, while assisting in products and services research projects;
  • keep abreast with legal and regulatory affairs in relation to the Banking and Financial Services Industry, current affairs, financial news, market trends and general news to be able to actively contribute in various discussions and fora within the Bank;
  • maintain relevant documentation, policies and procedures for the proper functioning of the Unit;
  • manage projects to completion maintaining high level of standards and ensuring deadlines are met within the agreed budgets and expected levels of performance; 
  • assist in the Department’s planning and budgeting process;
  • liaise and have a strong flow of communication with the other Units within the Bank in particular with  Business Development;
  • have knowledge of product and customer lifecycle; and 
  • perform duties that may be assigned from time to time. 

Competencies and experience

The potential candidate should be reliable and trustworthy, well-organised with a disposition to learn and have a team-oriented approach. The candidate should demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Maltese.

You must:

  • have a Bachelor’s in Business Management or Banking & Finance;
  • ideally have experience as a Product owner / Analyst within the Banking or Financial Services Industry;
  • have leadership skills with assertiveness, self-confidence and people management skills;
  • have strong Data Analytics and Project Management skills;
  • be objective oriented, marketing and commercially minded; and
  • be meticulous with attention to detail.
